ByteLight Crowd Funding
ByteLight Crowdfunding Campaign
At ByteLight we had been working hard to get the technology into the hands of developers all over the world. In order to do this we chose a Kickstarter-esque platform called Self-Starter. In 30 days the campaign raised over $35,000 in pre-order sales for ByteLight - But it's reach did not end there. The ByteLight Self-starter campaign brought in not only developers, but new business prospects. Some of this new business ended up doing pilots with the ByteLight tech and others would go on to be paying customers. We couldn't have asked for a better outcome.
An app for the people
When we decided to release the ByteLight technology to the public, we needed an app that people could use right out of the box at home. We created a simple, yet beautiful app that allowed you to attach digital content to a physical space via ByteLight bulbs. The ByteLight Community App allows you to attach photos, videos, notes, and links to a specific ByteLight bulb - content that is only accessible when the user is in the vicinity of the bulb itself.
Ready, willing, able.
I believe this project is a great example of how I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty across the creative spectrum. I designed the Community App and coded the HTML & CSS front end working directly in RubyMine with the development team. I organized the shoots and shot all video footage with audio for both video pieces, animated them in AfterEffects, edited them in Premiere, and worked with production house Robotic Raptor to create the custom music track. I designed and coded the front end CSS for the crowdfunding website as well. This campaign sparked the interest of Walmart, who would run a test pilot in their innovation lab for over 3 months. This became the proof that we had a product that worked and was viable which would later lead to the completion of a $3M Series A funding and the eventual acquisition of the company by Acuity Brands.
